Year of the Dragon

Embark on a photography adventure with the Year of the Dragon Photography Workshops, a collaborative effort between the Chinese in Wales Association and Ffotogallery.

In 2024, participants from Swansea to Cardiff were invited to join us for free photography workshops, immersing themselves in the essence of the Year of the Dragon through our Dragon Festival project, generously funded by Arts Council Wales.

Under the guidance of accomplished photographers Jessie Nian in Swansea and Andy Barnham in Cardiff, these workshops provided more than just a chance to refine photography skills; they offered a gateway to unravel the symbolism and cultural significance of the dragon.

Blending Welsh and Chinese heritage, these workshops bridged tradition and modernity, giving participants a unique opportunity to capture the dragon's essence through their creative lens. The selected photos reflect their imagination and creativity, revealing personal interpretations and meanings that go beyond literal depictions of dragons.
