Carmarthen School of Art has been a beacon for aspiring photographers for nearly fifty years. Since its inception in 1978, the Photography course has nurtured countless talents, providing a springboard into the dynamic world of visual storytelling and artistic expression.
To celebrate past students and their achievements, Carmarthen School of Art launched an initiative in 2023 to create an archive that honours their graduates and preserves their legacy. This archive will help connect them to their educational family and inspire current and prospective students.
The school has extracted work from the archive to curate this Legacy exhibition and to create a catalogue, which will be available later this year.
This exhibition and the coming catalogue showcase their alumni's diverse paths and accomplishments, providing tangible examples of what is possible within the program and, more importantly, what is possible beyond it. It is essential to remember that education is by no means the only way and that education is only the beginning; the real work begins after education. This initiative aims not only to bolster a sense of community but also to serve as a guiding light for young learners and emerging creatives, inspiring them and reminding them that there is a place for them in the world and that they, too, can go on to achieve their goals in the creative sector.
