In the summer of 2024 the art group from the Valleys Kids worked with artists David Sinden and Kate Woodward to create Photorengas, supported by Ffotogallery and Disability Arts Cymru.

A Renga is a Japanese poem created by multiple poets each writing their own line in response to the one before. Photorengas are visual representations of this form of poetry where artists capture photos inspired by the previous photograph.

The original images were taken from the Valleys Project Archive held by Ffotogallery and served as the initial point of inspiration.

With thanks to David Sinden, Kate Woodward, Anne Culverhouse Evans, Valley Kids, DAC and Ffotogallery. The project was funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund. Original photographs from the Valleys Project Archive are the work of Peter Fraser and Emma-Faye Mae Tsui.  These works are on display as part of Ffoto Cymru: Wales International Festival of Photography.
