Meet the Team - Phil Scully

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m 30 years old, and was born in Cardiff. I studied at USW (Back then – the University of Glamorgan) in Fashion Promotion and Marketing. As well as my role at Ffotogallery, I also work for the amazing Ffwrnes, a Cardiff based street food company serving some of the best pizza in Wales

What is your role at Ffotogallery and what does this involve?

I am the newly appointed Marketing and Communications Officer. I started as an intern about 4 years ago, where for a few months I worked with the team on ‘Diffusion: Looking for America’ and ‘Bedazzled.’ I returned in 2017 to do some freelance for ‘Diffusion: Revolution’ helping to grow the social presence of the festival and reaching new. I am now looking forward to developing this role further as a member of the core team.

What inspired you to work in the arts?

My Mum was always working in an arts organization when I was growing up, so I was very much inspired and surrounded by the creative industries from a young age.

Have you got a favourite Project or Exhibition you’ve been involved with at Ffotogallery?

I am currently working on ‘Ffotogallery Platform’ an instagram residency based programme that allows up and coming photographers take residency on the account and share work with peers and industry professionals. Allowing them to grow their audience and get feedback. I think its important that new talent have an avenue like this to help progress them further in their career.
