LockDownRenga
Ffotogallery is delighted to be involved in LockDownRenga, a new series of online photo-poetry workshops for artists who are shielding, high risk or isolated. Run by artists David Sinden and Kate Woodward and in partnership with Disability Arts Cymru, there will be six LockDownRenga workshops, a poetry workshop with poet and performer Mel Perry, plus a series of audio description resources recorded by contemporary audio-visual artist Zoe Partington.

Watch: Photography and Language
If you missed our recent online discussion Photography and Language, the event is now available to watch online. Ffotogallery’s Director David Drake is joined by artists Michal Iwanowski and Marcelo Brodsky, discussing their visual correspondence created during lockdown, and Alina Kisina, an artist, educator and linguist by training, talking about how the online dimension of her global project Children of Vision empowers young people to share their unique vision of the world.

August Featured Artist
Every month we’ll be putting the spotlight on selected artists from our European Prospects database. This month’s featured artist is the latest addition to the platform, Pauline Rowan. With a background in Fine Art, her predominately lens based works incorporate documentary as well as collaborative and performative elements. Check out the link below to view images from her work ‘Under A Vaulted Sky’ in which Rowan worked closely with a small community of people and explored their relationship to a de-consecrated convent and its abandoned gardens, all of which were marked for demolition.

Chapter Artwork Commission
Chapter reopens this Autumn, and to celebrate they are commissioning an artist to create new work for the lightbox at the front of the building. The deadline for applications is 1st September, 8pm.
